>>Forty minute download on dial-up, but well worth it for the classics<<

Gawd, you are missing some great YouTube stuff. I was never a Monty Python fan, but was vaguely aware of the Lumberjack Song. When I looked up that skit I found several versions, and posted you the best one. The changing expressions on the face of his "best girl" are just priceless!

Here's a sparkling pop music clip from the 60s...

The Crystals - Da Doo Ron Ron

I also found wonderful old clips from Pete Seeger's TV show "Rainbow Quest", with artists such as Richard and Mimi Fariña, Tom Paxton, Mississippi John Hurt, Johnny Cash, etc. And stuff from the Newport Folk Festival, with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, etc.

>>How is Seward's folly treating you<<

I was about ready to break out my bike, and then we got whacked by 18 inches of snow on Friday afternoon! It's half-melted now, so I expect to finally hit the bike trails in about a week.

Alaska is doing pretty well, given the high oil prices. So well that the Albertans are starting to cast envious glances at the rake-off we're getting with our latest oil taxation scheme. ;>)

>>a few of them are 'mighty california redwoods', sempervirens, supplier threw them in, don't know how they'll do, site gets pretty dry in summer<<

Perhaps if you water them and cut back any competitors for the first few years, they'll catch a toehold and make it.

>>deciding who to vote for in this election<<

LOL

How to signal a lumberjack...

Sports bra saves US hiker in German Alps
Mon Jun 23, 3:44 PM ET

An American hiker stranded in the Bavarian Alps for nearly three days was rescued after using her sports bra as a signal, police in southern Germany said Monday.

Berchtesgaden police officer Lorenz Rasp said that he helped lift 24-year-old Jessica Bruinsma of Colorado state to safety by helicopter on Thursday after she attracted the attention of lumberjacks by attaching her sports bra to a cable used to move timber down the mountain.
