It is expensive to do the stuff we're doing. You know that. These technologies cost a ton to develop, and the "military industrial complex" has become something far different from what it was in the early days.

I'm all for saving money where possible -- but not at the expense of decreasing military readiness.

It is a matter of priorities, and mine are surely different from yours. I believe the federal government's first obligation is to insure absolute (or as close as can be gotten) protection from military threats.

Only after we are secure from such threats should we be thinking about providing Social Security, Medicare, Prescription Drugs, Welfare Benefits, etc. To the extent we can save money on military readiness, I don't oppose it -- so long as we don't compromise our security.
