Fuck Buchanan. Thats disgusting. The fact that there have been americans of good will along the way doesnt give anyone the right to praise slavery, jim crowe and welfare for blacks. Buchanan as smart as he is on politics is a neanderthal. He is the same guy who said jews werent gassed at the camps. Now slavery is a piece of cake.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude? Like I've said before, you guys make good bean counters........human relations, foreign diplomacy, the running of the gov't etc........leave to the rest of us.

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known. Yes, I understand those slave ships had two swimming pools.....one on the upper deck; the other on the lower deck; that cocktails were served promptly at 5 PM; that there was a multiplex in the forward aft....and French chefs were brought in to do all the cooking. This pronouncement on the part of Buchanan is so ridiculous that I am stunned someone in as prominent position as he would make such a statement. He will be branded as a racist for the rest of his life......not that he probably cares all that much......after all, in his circles, that's probably seen as a good thing. It will also insure that the GOP returns to being a regional party and eventually its demise.
