"Plus, yer gonna hang out for half an hour waiting for the thing to drain and/or the owner to come out with his four-ten 'all loaded with lead'?"

Do it in parking garages, your new "filling station". As for "hanging around", it would take all of a minute to drill the hole and place the pan, then you just unobtrusively fiddle in YOUR car until you notice the gasoline flooding the cement.

I was going to reply with essentially the same thing. If I catch someone siphoning gas from my tank, I am likely to just chase them off and/or call the cops. If I catch them drilling a hole in my tank, they are taking a trip to the hospital, either for lead poisoning in their butt or to get treatment for the new MLB logos all over their very swollen body.

Suspect my response would not be that unusual if this actually became common.

I do agree the tank would not explode. You need a stoichiometric ratio for that to occur.
