I understand that you feel that way. I don't think Wright wants to keep living the hate and anger. I think he just IS angry, and it will take time to get over it. Angry people are not clear thinking people- as we see over and over again- and to expect them to be is not rational either.

I just finished watching the speech. For anyone who has not seen it, I recommend it. It's only half an hour. I thought it was an excellent speech, well organized and informative.

I appreciated that he addressed my point of a few days ago about what liberation theology means in the context of this century where the baggage is in the past. It was in that context that he made his comment about difference and deficiency. I had heard that part earlier but it was out of context. So now I know what liberation means going forward--changing hearts and minds so that difference can be viewed as simple difference and not assumed to mean deficiency. That's good to know.

No, I just don't get it.

I'm with you on that. And I have no explanation for it other than yours. I disagree with those who find it intentional.

There was nothing in the speech that could be construed as an impediment to Obama, IMO. I guess that must have been in the Q&A, which I will listen to anon.

Edit: He did say something provocative re white racists getting their notion of superiority from their authoritarian white male deity. Forgot about that. I was too busy being annoyed at us non-believers yet again being left out of the narrative for that to register as potentially offensive. <g>
