As long as the current campaign and election model prevails, the results will be largely dysfunctional. Tearing things up rarely builds much in its stead. This process doesn't build any new consensus for action, just more division. That hurts our country on just about all fronts. But it's obvious how many people enjoy the sound and fury of the whole thing, so once again America will pay a heavy price for a short-term dose of amusement. The odds of more than a small minority being satisfied two years from now with the presidency this produces, are very small. More likely one wins by 50.x% and we will be here complaining about the same political, economic, social and foreign policy problems that exist now. But at least we'll have a president who is "tough", right?
