Elmat, have you considered how the unfortunate era in Brazil you were raised under, a military dictatorship, has influenced you?

Your sensibilities are bound to be different from those who have lived their lives in a democracy or at least a freer environment.

I had a room mate in the dorms at Berkeley who was from Tehran during the era of the Shah. During his first week on campus he had purchased a copy of Time magazine which featured a very unflattering painting of the Shah on the cover accompanied by a number of critical articles. He kept asking other students how this could possibly be allowed to be printed. They would just shrug and not understand. He finally kept the magazine hidden away, but would take it out and re-read it over and over with a secret excitement.

He exhibited many other traits which he had acquired from living in a dictatorship, many of which would become less pronounced over time. But even years later you could still see the rigidity in many areas of his life. I think this is unavoidable, but something to be aware of.
