Allen, On the timing of Obama's response, he's taking some hits because he didn't do this sooner. Bill Richardson just said it; others have said it. I don't think he could have. The fact he didn't completely sever all ties the first time around is a credit to him, given his relation to the guy. And to have done it would have gone down very badly in rather large segments of the African American community. Now was the time, best I can tell. There is another criticism that his campaign is not quick enough with rebuttals; that they seem to miss a news cycle before they get responses out. Perhaps that's the case in general; I don't think it applies to this one. As for whether he's tough enough, I guess we may get a chance to find out.
