Brian -

I do see that answer as a dodge, but an artful one. I think the question strays dangerously into the territory of forcing a candidate to defend the specifics of his faith. The Constitution does guarantee that there should be "no religious test" for any candidate for federal office. Thus, I don't really consider that a valid question for a presidential candidate.

It would, perhaps, have been better if Obama had simply refused to answer the question on those grounds.
