Kate, it is not ""black separatist" theology." What I heard is "black liberation" theology. The pastor who introduced Rev. Wright at the NAACP eloquently expressed what it means. Africans and African-Americans consider Christianity as a White man's religion. These pastors in the African American community during the "segregation hour" try to drive this notion away and draw the towards Christianity. That is what happened with Obama when Michelle took him to that church and exposed him to the scriptures etc.

Obama has eloquently expressed on why he joined the Trinity church and the work they do. The Church members are of mixed race with the majority being African Americans.

It is very very creditable for a black, half orphaned man to have scaled the heights that he did. And as he has said that it is only in this country that it could happen. Now each one of us, including you and me have the responsibility to maintain that image of this country in the eyes of the world. It is the patriotic thing to do.
