Umm -- are you suggesting that because NOK is still on this list they will be in December?

My point is that at a certain point, they're playing with fire. They want to void the agreement, GREAT, they aren't licensed anymore. Call TI et al, and inform them of their contractual agreements (if they haven't already).

From NOK's pov, where does pressuring for a lower rate become a real game of russian roulette??

I have never been happy to lose a customer but in this instance, it would be so nice to see Nokia's name deleted from the list of licensees. It would open the market to a whole swarm of competitors and would boost Qualcomm's profits because the huge discount Nokia enjoys would be gone. Nokia is gobbling 80% of the industry's profits and 40% of sales which is about as monopolistic as things get outside government.

It would be better to keep Nokia as a customer paying the right price, but in the current situation, we'd be better rid of them. So would a LOT of people.

Unfortunately, Nokia apparently has a trump to play anytime = "Okay, we agree, we have an existing agreement and we hereby renew it". Which seems odd when they insist that they do NOT have an agreement. I'd take them at their word. I never like to force a customer. Scrub them from the list as of tomorrow.
