Obama had the courage to stand up to McCain and Clinton's pandering on the "summer gas tax" issue.

McCain's raising such a stupid suggestion was a real disappointment - whatever else I might have disagreed with him on, resisting this sort of pandering to oil company lobbyists was the one thing I'd given him credit for. Clinton jumping on the bandwagon was no surprise.

Obama showed courage and intelligence. Our next president is going to need boatloads of both, given the disaster the Republicans have created. Bush didn't manage this all by himself - the Republicans had the house, senate, and presidency and a blank policy check after 9/11 to do anything they wanted.
