Right, but the reason why everyone knows what liberal means is that Republicans have cultivated the use of the word as an insult for decades.

For example, kids say things like "you dissed me". Well, that wasn't a word when I was growing up, but it seems to mean something to people now, because of repetition. If Dems use neo-con over and over and explain to people what it means and then label the Republicans with it, then it will become a dirty word for the right, just like liberal is a dirty word for the left.

My point is this. Republicans are smarter than Dems when it comes to fighting dirty. Dems can either always take the high road and lose most elections or they can fight fire with fire.

If i were a dem strategist, i wouldnt run against repubilcan ideologies. I would run under gross incompetence of the bush admin. I would talk less about iraq and raising taxes and more about Katrina which all americans (perhaps even inode) would classify as a giant clusterf**k. Bush admin was the classic gang who couldnt shoot straight.

Running against Bush isn't enough.......the GOP needs to be brought to its knees. Its gotten way too corrupt and extreme.
