MIKE If you had proof beyond doubt that Saddam had large stockpiles of chemical and bio weapons and a robust nuclear effort underway, would your view have changed?

JOHN For an invasion? No.

So what would you have done then? Relied on blix? allies?? or would you just have accepted the fact that the sanctions would go away and saddam would become a much more disruptive force than before. Also one of the fears back then was the passing of wmd to terrorists, not because you identified with them but because you had some objectives in common. We see that all the time with iran helping even al quaeda vs US in iraq because the enemy of my enemy is my friend type thinking.
