I agree that it would be good if ideas, policy plans, ideological principles, voting histories etc. where a larger part of the debate.

I just don't think personal issues should be removed from the debate entirely, because we are after all electing a person not a collection of ideas.

I think I would be for anyone who did something about the income tax. Well not just anyone. I had lunch with a 83 year old . She had a huge profit on a stock and low and behold her Medicare rates went up. I sometimes feel as though it's a no win situation. One saves and pays more tax on the interest...

One gets a good stock and gets a capital gains tax. Well all right but then whammy the Medicare payments go up too.

The trouble as I see it with this country is we have always rewarded borrowing and spending without rewarding saving...
