Hey since debt doesn't matter I think Canada itself should go out and start borrowing.. Maybe we could use the money to replace all the gold we sold in the 90's. At least it would be to good use... Seems you can borrow as much as you want if you have some gold in your vaults. Even if you fudge the numbers a bit on how much you have.. :)

A Special Alert Regarding Pensions
Author: Jim Sinclair

Dear CIGAs,

I received a very important call from a steel worker who just received a DEFICIENCY NOTICE from his pension plan. I understand that the Teamsters Union has sent out the same notice to its members.

I would like to add another item that needs to be attended to. Those of you that have the ability to withdraw from your pension plans do so immediately, hopefully at the last stated value as many of these entities are up to their nose in SIVs and multiple other forms of derivatives.

What a mess. Nothing has changed.

This type of a situation will help to increase the Federal Budget Deficit, putting more weight on the US dollar. What happens to the US dollar happens to gold inversely.

So...the correct view is that the present strength in the markets is only temporary. Reality will soon reassert itself with a solid market decline.

Mind, I haven't heard anyone (yet) say that this is a good time to be short.... Someone boasted of shorting the QQQ's yesterday but quickly changed his mind and covered today...Most just believe in the safety of cash... or is it gold ?

I have never known the threads be so despondent. Is this a usual harbinger of a decline in the markets ? ... I don't think so !

(but it makes no difference to me. I remain fully invested in what I believe to be the true source of social wealth... business)

Postscript:

Here's a view of reality. It's the chart of an ETF that contains the Canadian finance community. It declined a few dollars from its high during this disastrous year, but now it's back where it started the year.
