Because we took that stance on more occasions than that time in 1947.

I think there was some talk about it during Vietnam, but it hasn't been a frequent topic.

The bottom line is the nation is divided about it. Unless you are willing to allow the death of an innocent rather than to use the technique, I believe there is no substance to your complaint.

And I don't think, if push came to shove, you would make that choice to not act. Don't know, but I doubt you would.
