As I said, I know of no one who has taken that position. Death during interrogation would presumably be torture at least, and potentially murder, depending upon the circumstances.

But the point is that waterboarding cannot be torture because it doesn't meet the criteria of "pain or suffering". Although, I certainly understand McCain's POV.

It is really sort of a non-issue, since the United States has no significant history of using these techniques. At least not on enemies.

Guys like Dave just go straight into knee-jerk, parrotlike auto-denial. They don't want to be disturbed by troublesome facts.

I wonder if he would think torturing someone to death is an example of torture. I know the answer seems pretty obvious to you or I but to him.......who knows?
