I guess the specific problem I do have on the thread is the west trying to lecture China on anything including human rights... These things always seem to have an ulterior motive.

I would agree the press has turned more negative against China. You are probably old enough to remember the tenor of stories about Japan and the Soviets in the 80s. I view that dynamic in a similar vein as the view the US now has towards the Chinese.
