This is one areas where I agree with him. Not that I'm necessarily defending the current level of the tax, or calling for a higher level, but I don't think that the tax level should be moved around according to how expensive gasoline gets. If it gets more expensive that's a signal that conveys information about the balance of supply and demand, we shouldn't try to interrupt or counteract that signal.

No. The Sunni switch happened because Al Qaeda in Iraq was arrogant and stupid. They way way overplayed their hand, and antagonized a great majority of Iraqi Sunnis even more than the US.

The Anbar awakening (and its smaller copies elsewhere in Iraq), happened for that reason, but the surge helped the awakening succeed.

As for the whole John McCain, and "a liar", I agree with Bearcatbob - "he is a politician"
