Oh, I agree with that. Gross did not change his mind that the reported CPI (including food and energy) is about right. I didn't detect any hints in the article that he does not agree that reported inflation (including food and energy) is incorrect. Inflation is around 4.5%. That includes everything.

I never understood why they exclude food/energy just because they are "volatile". Why not use the 200-day moving average (or whatever) to smooth out the volatility?
