I see you have been thinking about it too. I agree with your comments.

It seems almost inevitable that we will attack Iran this summer.

Hedge Fund Fees Shrink as U.S. Pensions Make Direct Investments

bloomberg.com

May 2 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. hedge-fund investors are paring the roughly $80 billion they pay in annual fees by cutting out the middlemen.

New York State's $155 billion retirement system has shifted a portion of its $5.3 billion in hedge-fund assets away from the intermediaries, known as funds of funds. ITT Corp.'s pension fund and Baylor University's endowment have already made the move.

John re Iran

The reality is that Iran has a very sophisticated artillery and short range missile capacity. They have multiple and diverse conventional missiles sites aimed at all key spots in Israel and Iraq. Iran also has a very efficient anti-aircraft missile capacity. Any overt attack on Iran will buy a century of revenge. Iran is not some Arab chunk of land carved out of the desert by oil interests. Iran is an ancient civiization with a Persian culture that would immediately rally to defend that culture. Talk with them, as a cultural entity they are much more reasonable than the Arabs.

OT: " I'm surprised there is not more talk of the draft..."

After they bomb, the Iranians will charge into Iraq, and Bush will regretfully announce the resumption of the draft, because of the damn Iranians! (R) youngsters will be exempt for various reasons, "fighting" hard from their blogs at home; Dick Cheney will explain.

Re: we just don't have the manpower to invade a country with three times Iraq's population IMO

Please don't get me wrong, I'm on your side.

But what we don't have the ability to do is to occupy Iran.

We could go in there and take out any set of suspect or supposedly suspect facilities we want.

Our military, as abused, under supported, and under appreciated as they may be, could knock out anything Iran can stand up in a matter of days.

But we would have to plan ahead, do some specific set of tasks, then get the hell out.

I don't think the current administration can competently run a hot dog stand, much less manage an intelligent military operation. And they're still all too full of themselves to the our military do what they think is best.

Bush thinks God talks to him, never a good sign.
