Some people use "sustainable" to mean that it can in theory last indefinitely (or at least until the sun goes red giant, or some other civilization ending disaster happens).

By this standard even nuclear isn't "sustainable" if you don't use breeder reactors (or fusion).

That might be a bit extreme, but conventional fossil fuels might last long enough for something to replace them, so they would be sustainable by your definition.
