It's not that she speaks her mind, it's what comes out.

Ya my point exactly. If you are constantly afraid of what you say, you will never say anything meaningful or anything creative or anything provocative. You will be a "yes my daring husband" type of woman. Take your sit at home mom if you like - me, I prefer a woman who is unafraid to make a mistake occasionally. A woman with spunk.

I just think she would be a better first lady than Bill. But Bill also occasionally says things that get him in trouble. What Bill can say this stuff because he is a man first lady?

Karen -

I wasn't going to comment on the Steyn piece that was posted here yesterday, but now I think I will.

It was a complete hatchet job, and I wouldn't give it much credence. One thing that was particularly odious to me was the way he referred to a speech given by Michelle for and audience of working women, and how he spent a lot of time vilifying her for what she said, but did not quote her once. Instead, we were supposed to rely on his interpretation of her words.

What it sounded like to me is that she was probably talking about the scheduling difficulties involved in being a working mother with two children. Steyn, however, would have us believe that she was "complaining" about how difficult it is for her to make ends meet. In the absence of a single quote supporting his characterization of what she said, I highly doubt that.
