The hard ball politics of the corporate world better prepare people for high level gov't.........JMHO.

That's why George Shultz and James Baker were so good at the job. They had played hardball at very high levels. Since then, the model for SecStates has been more diluted, for sure.

Republicans don't like regulation and general governmental interference. I think it's hard to run a system that you don't like in the first place. They end up using it for personal gains rather than for the general good of the country.

I do take your point. It seems a reasonable analysis. It's just not consistent with my personal observations, anecdotal, to be sure.
