The rebate check is a big nothing. Someone posted this afternoon about cash out refis. This past quarter they were down 58 billion. Multiply by 4 quarters and you get a 232 billion reduction, just from cashouts alone this year.

The "big stimulus" is around 170 billion.

The stimulus package is all election year propaganda, a chance for Wall Street to unload on the retail folks.

Most of the stimulus money is going to almost immediately end up in the Middle East or China.
