>>they will get $2100<<

An Alaska family of five will get a permanent fund dividend of ~$8,250 in October. It's a massive, annual stimulus timed to hit right after the seasonal summer business activity winds down. Whole shiploads of cars, TVs, furniture, washer/dryers, etc are scheduled for arrival to coincide with the big spending party.

I'm trying to convince Mq that this is a good idea, but he can't quite seem to grasp it despite being a libertarian. He's been stuck living in a suffocating, nanny-state kleptocracy for so long that he has no idea what true freedom really is. Sounds like he'd rather have bossy bureaucrats decide how to spend the money.

Our system works so well that it's been proposed as a way of distributing Iraq's oil wealth directly to the Iraqi people. Of course they'd likely buy different goods with it such as sheep, goats, camels, machetes, burqas, suicide vests, AK-47s, RPGs, explosively-formed-penetrators, etc. Hmmm... maybe it's not such a good idea after all. Oh well.
