Yes, especially for cargo. As far as I recall, Hong Kong, Anchorage, and Memphis are the 3 busiest air cargo hubs in the world. Anchorage is the midway refueling point.

Alaska is rather of out of the way. China should use some of its excess savings to buy Siberia, and move some people up there. TJ can open an office in Vladivostok.
