I reacted to that, too. That phrase seems to be gratuitously added at every opportunity. There may or may not be a valid point there that warmer water compounds the problem, but they should make that point directly, not slip it in the back door.

And then there's the ubiquitous "doomsday"...

i know you are teasing about something else, but that agricultural runoff is nasty stuff. farmers most places are working hard to work on eliminating it. but you knew that. not global warming. just sloppy farming. and them cows who use the loo by a water source. mymymy. bad stuff.

Warmer water can intensify pollution's effects. Just sit by a stagnant pond in the summer and in the winter- you'll note the difference.
