"Syria became a French protectorate thinly disguised as a League of Nations Mandate. The Christian coastal areas were split off to become Lebanon, another French protectorate. Iraq and Palestine became British mandated territories. "

So the creation of israel bothers you but not the creation of a christian state in lebanon, cut off from syria. Syria is equivalent to palestine and israel to lebanon for the most part. And lets not forget the UN vote in 47. Bet you didnt even realize you posted this.

Lebanon is 60% Muslim and 40% Christian. It is 95% Arab. Syria 75% Muslim and 15% Christian. It is 90% Arab.

Beyond the fact that both were under a Mandate, I don't see many similarities between Israel and Lebanon. What I do know is that France begrudgingly accepted Lebanon's independence whereas Britain tried to prevent Israel's. What did the Brits know........plenty!

Of course Lebanon belongs to Syria, that's obvious. And Syria's economic dependence on Lebanon is the reason why Syria has been a benign influence on Lebanon. They are making weak attempts to counteract the 50-year Israeli plan to destabilize Lebanon.

Let's see.......Lebanon has had a history of Christians, Muslims and Druzes living together sometimes in harmony and sometimes in turmoil. Israel was mostly Muslim with a scattering of Christians until the Zionists showed up at their door at the end of the 19th century. Syria is a free state while Palestine remains under the thumb of the Israels.

But yes, they are exactly the same......NOT.

And what about the UN vote in '47? You mean the one where the US overrode the recommendation of the Brits not to give Israel her independence?
