I here all of it. Both sides of it. Campaigns, unfortunately are full of candidates opening their mouths. Seems to me it is a sport for most people. Just... Yea Team! and blah blah blah.

They live vicariously through their team and share the ups and downs. They excuse their teams errors and deny the others accomplishments.

It is a bunker mentality. Boston and the Yankees have long been hard rivals. If they traded the entire teams over night, they would still root for the home team! In other words they root for the uniform!

If someone says it looks like rain people choose sides and debate it. If they know the politics of the rain predictor they choose sides accordingly without concern for what they see in the sky.

People have been blessed and cursed with too much time on their hands.
