Rap,

Know the feeling as I've been using Q for many years. I did try MS Money, but it didn't feel "right" after becoming so use to Q. Besides, Money relied to much on the web and I felt every time that I clicked a link I would be taken to an MSN site.

With respect to transferring your Q data file to your new computer, just connect your external drive to the new computer. More than likely it will be recognized. Open Explore and find the drive, copy the file and paste it into a Q folder that you plan on using for the files.

Good luck,

Stock Bull

I just copied the Quicken files to the new computer and opened them there. I did not try to figure out which ones are needed - there's a gaggle of them. ;)

You can backup your current file using Quicken Backup feature either on an external hard drive or CD etc.. Once you have the new PC and Quicken installed there, you can then restore the files using Quicken Restore feature.. Using Quicken Backup and Restore basically ensures that every thing that you have in Quicken such as saved reports etc.. all are taken care off including the actual data files..

Note, if you have multiple data files, each must be backed up and restored separately..
