If Clinton gets elected, at least, (IMO) she has some understanding of the problem.

I do think she has an understanding of the problem. Her wonkish self seems to have an understanding of many/most problems. What she would propose to do about it is something else, altogether.

I think most people are happy to throw out the present system except the private insurance co's, HMO's, drug co's, hedge funds, ect. that got rich off of it.

Most people don't think things through. It's easy to see the problems with the status quo and the benefits of the alternative. It's harder to see the benefits of the status quo and harder yet to the problems with the alternative.
