A more credible source is the guy on 60 minutes who treated 17,000 patients with a budget of $ 250,000.

He may be a credible source for some information, but can he tell you what the administrative overhead of Medicare is? Charles Barkley is a credible source for how to run a pick and roll but that's not useful for our purposes either. When you want specific information, you need to find a source that has it.

Why did California legislature vote to outlaw private insurance in 07.

They did? Surely that's unconstitutional.

FWIW, I was reading up on compact light bulbs when I stumbled upon a blog written by an ER doctor who offered 15-25% admin overhead. He didn't footnote his source.

That sounds more realistic to me. My fuzzy recollection was of numbers in the mid to high teens.
