Watch MYL -- take a good sized price hit tomorrow on recall driven bad news.... the most insidious and frightening part of the story is the really sloppy and haphazard method in which the cardiologists, the pharmacies and companies like Merck Medco went up telling their patients and clients about this life threatening overdoses of Generic Digitek that had been given out. No phone calls, no emails, just a .... by the way letter in the Mail. My father who was in Houston for two weeks and spent 5 days lying in my bed too weak to eat, was vomiting and experiencing the runs for 20 days... well we had no idea what was wrong and the whole pharmco-medical complex could seem to care less. His cardiologist in Florida, their staff said that they had about 20 patients on either the patent or generic version of the drug and that it was too complicated for them to go through their records to determine who was actually taking Digitek, the patent or generic version and to then give them a phone call.

Now that is a really compelling level of care and compasssion for their patients. And ditto Merck Medco who fills my dad's prescriptions. If you have heard the old expression in business and acting of someone "just mailing it in" in terms of their performance..... this is just about exactly what transpired here.

I'm entirely discussed with the botched way in which all parties acted in this matter. And this recall seems to being conducted in a similar fashion to a backchannel negotiation between Henry Kissenger and the North Vietnamese.

it hush, hush... ya we have a bit of a problem but we don't really want to talk about it.

John

Also I think Ohio may well outstrip Detroit and Michigan as the state in which the so called exporting of the middle american jobs and the outsourcing of so many jobs oversees can be best observed. That coupled with the fact that so much of what you buy at WMT etc is made in China, due to the well know fact of wages being around 10% of what they are in the US.

And now they have rice riots in the big Pacific Rim countries and India.
