I don't think so. He claims to speak for the "consensus" and there has been no challenge to that role. He has been acknowledged impressively for his leadership role. If he's not the bellwether, the face of the movement, I don't know who or what is. <<

Some people claim to speak for God, but I wouldn't try to make the argument that God is wrong because of something they say.

Al's got a higher profile, as the guy who got the most votes in the 2000 US Presidential election, than other people.

That doesn't make him the king of global warming, or the only voice that matters.

I'm not going to denounce him, though, since I never embraced him in the first place. I haven't quoted him, used him as an authoritative source, or endorsed anything he has said. I haven't even seen An Inconvenient Truth.
