I'll grant you the plane, but the sun's energy can certainly charge the battery of an electric car.

Sadly, I agree with you that in the absence of population control, there is little hope for the future, beyond a few more generations.

PS: Not that it would ever apply to commercial flight, but there have been solar powered aircraft: dfrc.nasa.gov
