Many would be more comfortable in smaller homes. Indeed, but then they wouldn't be constraining needs, would they? When they live in a home that is uncomfortably small, as I framed the point, they are constraining needs. So conservation can be done without "constraining needs" - precisely what I was pointing out. Good. As long as you recognize that not all conservation optimizes the energy supply, however circuitous the route to that recognition, my point got through.
