We talked to our enemies thruout the cold war. Were you against detente?

No, I wasn't. And I have no objection to the United States "talking" with Iran and backing it up with decisive military action. IN fact, the US has held several meetings in the last year as it relates to Iraq, which is appropriate, IMO.

You're citing TR, but TR would roll in his grave at the thought of talking WITHOUT the Big Stick. And this is Obama, through and through.

It is time for the US to get tough with Iran, putting them on notice that the support for the killing in Iraq must stop immediately, as must the development efforts for nuclear weapons. If they don't stop both immediately, they must face severe implications.

I must say, Bush's weakness on this issue has me more disturbed than just about anything he's done. If we do not show some resilience and strength here, the entire effort in Iraq will have been wasted. It is time that we backed up all the talking with the Big Stick.

Iran thinks we are weakened by Iraq. The truth of the matter is that we are weakened only by our resolve to minimize collateral damage. And they should realize this.
