Nope, I wasn't watching. A shame about the horse, but I doubt the winners owners and trainers were gleeful about the filly dying. They were happy to be backing a winner.

The scene of the winners owners and trainers besdide themselves with glee while the second place 3 year old filly lay dying on the track, was an obscenity.

Euthanizing horses on the track is part of the sport. I've seen it done many, many times.

I only watched a little of the race coverage, but it is entirely possible the winners didn't even know it was happening.

Here, they just pull out a curtain and a rifle and do it, and often most of the crowd doesn't know until after it happens.
