US/Iran today is much like it was back in the 50s before detente set in. And before detente set in we almost went to nuclear war with USSR during the Cuban missile crisis. I think what folks like inode want is the taking out of nuke capblity before it happens as in stalin in the late 40s. Preemptive strikes and the like. We didnt do that with stalin because he would have invaded western europe. We dont do that with iran because hopefully we can negotiate our way out of it and perhaps more importantly we dont have the means to either fight iranian sponsored world wide terror or middle east war with our diminished military. Yes and they sense this so they may go nuke in the next five years and we might have to live with that too, unless we can buy them off in some mutually acceptable compromise.
