'Assisting' in the overthrow of a guy who was dying of brain cancer, and didn't last nine months anyway?

For that 'overthrow assistance', what? Did he send American TROOPS to overthrow the dying Shah? Dispatch the CIA to do him in? Fund a rebellion or coup (like we previously did twice to put Kings in over the people there to rule...)?
