Unless it's just political schadenfreude Well schadenfreude plays into it, but the RW has more motivation than that. Obama is still odds-on favorite to become the Dem nominee. So the Reps have plenty of motive to play up Rev. Wright, which makes Obama look: a) of dubious judgement, b) a wimp, and c) possibly more of a leftist than people thought. All good news for John McCain. Best of all, the charges are largely true and so likely to stick. While I don't think Obama agrees with Rev. Wright about the greatness of Louis Farrakhan and the US government infecting blacks with AIDS, I do suspect that Obama is basically the son of Jimmy Carter and George Soros, politically speaking, and there isn't one thing in his record to tell me different. Indeed, his choices of campaign staff tell me I'm right: Zbig Brzezhinsky, Merrill McPeak, Samantha Powers, Robert Malley and Sandra Rice. Carterite lefties all. His current rhetoric and position papers are more moderate but I don't trust them. The rhetoric is 90% gaseous uplift anyway. I think Michelle may be delivering the more authentic message, and boy is it a downer: we are all struggling, afraid, alone, in debt, and "they" keep moving the bar. Literally, that was her message last Friday.I am not sure Hillary will be easier to beat for McCain Indeed, I think she would be the formidable candidate. The Clintons do not quit, as they are currently demonstrating. Hillary's shot to Rush was a good one: "Be careful what you wish for, Rush," she said. I do not wish to see the continuing psychodrama of a third Billary term (and make no mistake, that is what the Clintons are proposing). But I would vastly prefer it to the leftist inexperienced incompetence of Barack Obama. Go look at how Deval Patrick has been doing in Massachusetts, a Democratic governor with a Democratic State Senate, for a foretaste of an Obama administration.
