Michael, I don't think we should tap the SPR unless we're in a real crisis caused by war, natural disaster, or international embargo. Instead, we should pour research funds into energy research and infrastructure development. Foster the use of domestic coal, oil, and nuclear power, while at the same time investing in research for solar, fusion, and transportation technologies like hybrid cars and battery tech. As for people suffering from high gas prices, sure it might be tough, but transitions usually are. Let the market drive demand for MPGs. Tenchusatsu
