One has to wonder whether Apple will be able to continue to refresh the iphone as other handset OEM's come out with competitive offerings. Most handset vendors are coming out with at least a couple new smartphone models each year and you wonder whether Apple will be able to keep up with the replacement cycle?

I can't believe they would introduce a phone like this with a herky-jerky touch screen. They will fix it before launch or it will die on the vine. Got to thank Apple for energizing the industry with their UI.

Considering the large number of complaints over previous HTC handsets and their slow UI, I have to believe that they are doing everything possible to fix the problem. These devices are aimed squarely at the consumer so they need to nail the "fun factor".

As you say, the launch of the iPhone has really pushed the entire industry. Handsets are so much more interesting than they were 18 months ago :-).
