We are there- but unless we are willing to be there for the foreseeable future (as I guess McCain is), we might as well extricate now, and let Iraq stand or fall on its own. I don't think we can afford an open ended commitment with constantly forward moving goal posts, and endless cash dumps. The money for this war is truly astounding.

I just don't see the grand payoff. Right now it looks to me like we've bought 1.ethnic cleansing 2. greatly increased Iranian influence in the region and 3. a return to ethnic and religious tribalism. I think I preferred Saddam, and I've NO idea how you cure the ills we've unleashed and I'm 100% sure Bush and his admin have no idea how to solve this either. When you have no idea how to solve a problem, and it's costing trillions to continue being in the middle of it, I say you get out of the middle.
