Too cold and just a few people who like hot weather. Those are concentrated in the bigger towns more to the north. Polish, Germans, Italians are the majority there. We've been always like the South Koreans in a per capita income basis.

Should I invite Elroy to go there and dispell his fears?

There's a large part of San Jose that are not too nerdy or techy.

I could smugly claim that riots and arson are very unlikely in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood for similar reasons, but to visit the fires during the Los Angeles riots would have been just a five to ten minute drive.

A friend told me how disturbed she felt to leave her car with the valet at her posh health club and view the fires all across Los Angeles from her running machine on the top floor while the pianist played soothing melodies on the concert piano.

Elroy's riots won't come anytime soon. Just to give an idea on how things are developing there: Industrial sales from Paraná rise 17%. Curitba is the capital city of Parana state)

Curitiba – Industrial sales in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná posted growth of 17.03% in the first quarter this year compared with the same period of last year. It was the best quarterly result since 1986.

The positive result in this first quarter is ascribed to the good performance of agroindustrial activity in Paraná, to the vast supply of personal credit for consumption of goods, especially durable ones, and to the expansion of the domestic market, which results from the combination of credit, rising wages and increased employment rate.

Overall employment grew 6.46% on average during the period, and employment directly linked to production rose 3.30%.

(See sectors gaining and the sectors losing: It is moving up market! Result of the high Real vs USD.)

The sectors that recorded the highest increases in employment level during the period were Oil Refining and Alcohol Production (+36.03%), Machinery and Equipment (+16.02%), Food and Beverage (+13.81%) and Motor Vehicles (+12.22%).

The greatest reductions in level of employment directly linked to production during the period occurred in the following categories: Textiles (-24.17%), Clothing (-23.40%), Leathers and Shoes (-12.71%) and Wood (-10.27%).

Booming like this I dont think Elroy's riots will com any time soon.
