If not for our cats, I wouldn't trap them. They are a cute and marvelous animal. As for possums, when the racoons are around, they don't come into the house. They are not a problem. Except once, my wife found 11 babies in her closet. She called the "possum lady' from Texas A & M and when she came, the mother had already carted away about 6 of them. I don't think the 'possum lady' euthanized them, but took em out to the country after they had matured some. My wife is forever rescuing birds that our cats bring in, if they aren't severely damaged. Recently one of our cats brought in a baby rabbit, and it was still alive when my wife put it in a box. But within 20 minutes, it had died of shock. Nature is wondrous and amoral.
