LOL A "novel" idea.:) Read a book awhile back called something like this:

FRENCH WOMEN DON'T GET FAT...

In essence the story was about portion control. It said they still liked to eat all the delicious things we love, but that the focus was on good quality and eating just a limited amount. In one section they talked about this superb Christmas time cake and went on to relate that while it was such a treat, they'd have one piece or so at the holiday season.

When I went to London with a friend, her relative took the two of us out and his wife went with us. It was a very expensive eating place, really lovely. The wife was a little bit of a thing and when it came time for dessert she ordered one. My friend and I were surprised to see her eat one or two wee bites and leave the rest. We both were raised to believe we were eating for the starving children in China.:)

This is the recipe a friend gave me and said it was very good.

COLORFUL KIELBASA

1 can condensed cream of celery soup, undiluted

3/4 cup water

1 tablespoon margarine

1 pound smoked kielbasa, cut into 1/2 inch pieces

3/4 cup uncooked long grain rice

1 pkg. (10oz.) frozen peas

1 jar (4 1/2 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained

1 cup (4oz) shredded cheddar cheese

In a skillet, combine soup, water, and butter; bring to a boil. Add kielbasa and rice. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 - 18 minutes until rice is almost tender. Stir in peas and mushrooms. Cover and simmer 15 minutes or until rice is done. Sprinkle with cheese; cover and let stand until cheese melts.

4 - 6 servings.
