Problem is this is what makes the sprinting horse, very fine long legs with massive muscular bodies. A quarter horse wouldn't keep up to one of these for 25'. It's taken generations to breed this body shape into the thoroughbred and it would take many generations to get them back to a built horse like Secretariat. Now that is the build of a sturdy thoroughbred. He was 16.2 hands and weighed 1200 lbs. She was just shy of 18 hands and was heavier on spindly legs. I mean she broke both legs but this is the same injury that took down Barbados last year and 2 other horses during the derby week. At some point you have to see a trend and address it IMO.
